Mission
The mission of the Davis Joint Unified School District Libraries is to foster a lifelong love and habit of reading while promoting skills and literacy in the ethical and effective use of information and technology among all students. This is accomplished by the instruction of teacher librarians supported by technicians, who work collaboratively with faculty and staff and oversee the provision of a wide variety of print and electronic resources.
Online Library
The Emerson and Da Vinci Online Library provides 24 hours a day, 365 days a year access to the online resources provided by your school library. Use this site to access the following:
- The Library Catalog
- Search for books, check your library account, renew books, and even place holds on books that are checked out!
- Academic Resources
- Databases, pathfinders, research tools, academic help, enrichment, organization tools.
- Digital Citizenship
- Learn about online ethics and responsibility, and how to protect yourself while online from predators, thieves, and bullying.
- Reading
- E-books, streaming audiobooks, book reviews, video book trailers, book blogs.
- Fun
- Lists of approved games, approved educational videos, and cool online tools for creative arts, design, and more.
- Parent Resources
- Resources to help their students be safe online, academically successful, and more. Also a list of titles in the Harper Parents's Niche collection that can be checked out by parents.
- Teacher Resources
- Library, Computer Lab, and Laptop carts use calendars and request form.
- Links to teaching resources, lesson plans, and more.
Explore Art, History, and the World with Google Cultural Institute
Google Cultural Institute: Discover exhibits and collections from museums and archives all around the world. Explore cultural treasures in extraordinary detail, from hidden gems to masterpieces. The Cultural Institute is split into three sections -- Art Project, where you can view famous works of art and explore great museums using streetview; Historical Moments, where you can explore episodes in history through text, documents, artwork, and historical photographs; and World Wonders, where you can explore the many wonders of the world, all from your computer!
