Principal's Corner

“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

This quote reminds me about all the new opportunities that come with starting junior high school.  As principal of Emerson, I reflect fondly about all the changes students go through when they come to junior high school.  I have taught and worked in administrative posts at the junior high level in Davis since 1995 and in these roles I have seen firsthand the remarkable transformation that students make during the three years at junior high.  In addition, the staff that gravitates towards  and works at a junior high level also loves to see this transformative experience. Our staff works  hard to forge lasting relationships with their students.

On a personal note, I have been married to my wife Mindy, who teaches Physical Education at Holmes for 30 years.  We have two girls, Ashley 28, and Audrey 25 both of which graduated from Davis Senior High School.  Mindy and I met at Chico State and after graduating we moved to Davis.  A few years back we moved to Woodland, and we have truly enjoyed working for DJUSD for many years.

Serving as your principal has been an honor and as I start my fourth year in this role, I wanted all students and families to know that I am eager to support you and help in any way.

Students remember, as Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "You have the power to become the person you decide to be."

The Emerson staff is here to help, and we are excited to share the journey with you!
